How does "TIPDS" work or not be known before hand? Besides my feeling is the display will tell me I need to approach CX transfer desk to ask the airport to locate my bags in T1 and move to T4. Something tells me CX desk who handle this is only at T4? (so it's like chicken or egg situation).....if I choose to pick up bags myself, I'm aware of option of using QF lounge for shower / meal first then clear immigratino. But that leaves my bags hanging at arrival carasosl for good 2hours and i'mt not sure if that's optimal either.
So ideal situation is pick my bags up myself and go to T4 to check-in..so I guess main point is, once airside T4 (assuming I exit Sing @ T4) i'm not sure if I'm technically allowed airside sterlie transfer from T4 to T2? Can I argue I want to do shopping at T1/2/3 (hey that could work if you say u are shopping and give them more revenue...)
Some tips:
1. You will need to check with DNATA on whether CX still maintains a presence at T1 Concourse D. I have seen a transit desk at T4 (just after you arrive on the shuttle bus. But it was not manned).
2. Going from where you are in T1 to T4 would take ~30 mins each way (more if you are arriving from the C gates!). So you will be wasting 1 hour just going to T4, then coming back to T2/T1.
3. If T2 guy does not let you in, then try T3 / T1. YMMV.
4. If you just go visit the QF lounge first and are late to collect your bags, that is not a problem, your baggage will get transferred to the lost luggage counter around the corner from the belt - if you notice - they have heaps of luggage stacked around at that office (I have done this a long time ago - went to visit a priority lounge to get a shower prior to retrieving my bags).
5. Some dodgy blogger said that it was possible to go Airside T4 to T1. I have not tried that. Maybe you can try if you want to do that.
6. If you taking AY -> CX, don't think AY will through check your bags unfortunately.
