Dear OP, I got off AC hamster wheel in 2008/09 horrible years - and why still fly AC a lot so I can route myself frequently over Central Canada to see Little SkyBlueSea, and at same time respect clients who pay the freight on through fares.
Let AC defenders accept the mess and pretend status benefits override purpose of efficient air travel in the first place.
