This. Most of your vent is about the crappy state of the lounges. You can access these on a Tango fare, so no reason to buy up to Latitude unless what you really value are the flexibility of that fare and ability to eUpgrade for fewer points - but on this kind of routing, why bother.
I'm also not sure that using the week between Christmas and New Years', which is notorious for the small number of business travellers to base your overall assessment of the airline.
