This is probably mentioned in the thread, but I'm bringing it up as I don't want to search and it might help a newcomer.
Talked to a BoA Credit Card application agent and learned (per this agent...):
A) IF you are auto-approved by the computer for the Alaska card, they will give you a temporary credit card number to use for online purchases immediately. If you go to pending for any reason and have to call in for the reconsideration line, then you have to wait for the plastic card to arrive in the mail.
B) The card takes 3-5 business days to arrive in the mail, and this agent said they will NOT overnight the card. Not even for a fee, he said. This is why I asked about what I learned in point A.
C) This agent claims he cannot tell me what bureaus they will check. He said the Credit Analysts only deal with this and I can only learn what they will hard pull until I apply. Of course, there is Doctor of Credit as a great resource, as well as my local banker in my BoA branch who told me they pull TU in my area (Atlanta).
D) When applying, to unfreeze the credit bureau they want to check, their systems will NOT allow myself or an agent on the phone to use a temporary PIN number to check my credit. The agent says you have to do a temporary unfreeze. This pretty well-known per Doctor of Credit.
E) The agent said it is normal for application agents to to move credit from one existing BoA credit card limit to help approve a new application. This came up when I called in to ask about lowering my credit. To this point, my question is:
Does anyone have experience with NOT calling in to lower existing credit limits on BoA credit cards (as advocated heavily in this thread) and applying and getting the Alaska card with BoA moving credit from another BoA card limit to help open up the Alaska card? I'd rather not screw around with dropping my credit limits, but obviously I'll do it if it's too risky to not do it. I don't want a Visa Platinum version. ;-)
