I have Business Extra points expiring on 12/31/17. Can I redeem for a RT certificate, say North Am. to Europe, and then make the actual reservation sometime later during 2018, or do I need to actually make a (changeable) award redemption before 12/31/17?? In other words can I bank the certificate for the 12-months it is valid and not use it until I decide on flights? Saw the info below in the Wiki....
  • Flight Award Expiration - As published on the Business Extra website, Award Tickets must be booked within one year of redeeming the certificate, and are then valid for one year from booking.... Quote:
Award ticket must be issued by midnight one year from the original award redemption date. Tickets issued against Business Extra flight awards are then valid for one year from the ticket issue date.
(BTW the first call I made to Meeting Services said no, must book the ticket before 12/31/17....)
Also refer to this:

Q: How far in advance of travel can I confirm flight award travel?
A: Flight award reservations may be booked to 330 days in advance. Reservations confirmed 14 or more days before flight departure can be placed on hold for up to 5 days. If you book your flights less than 14 days prior to departure, we will hold the reservation for 48 hours to allow you to have the ticket issued.
