Yes of course I forgot about the fees for freezing and unfreezing.

One other method is just to apply using the link, knowing that you will not be instantly approved - you'll get the "we have to think about it" message and then you can just call the BofA reconsideration line (thread link below) at that point and talk to an agent, find out what credit report they are attempting to pull and unfreeze it while you are on the phone with them, and then wait for the application to be approved.

You could also try this site which polls users on the state they are in and where the pull is most likely to occur: TransUnion, Experian, or Equifax to proactively unfreeze the most likely one.
If I remember correctly it matters what city you live in as well for large states.

And as for a previous poster's comment, business card applications still do a hard pull on your SSN even if you apply with a EIN but will most likely not affect your Chase 5/24 as long as it is not a Chase business card.
