I have done my best to read through everything and have a couple of questions. I have never had an Alaska airlines card before and received the 30,000 miles offer via US mail. No monetary credit offered. It is an application for the signature card. I have my credit frozen with all 3 monitoring companies. The mailed offers are not as good.
In the wiki, at the top of the post, there is an offer for 30K, plus a $100 billing credit.
I would just use that link to apply online.
1. unfreeze all three reports.
2. apply online using the link in the wiki the same day
3. re-freeze your reports when your approved.
I wouldn't deal with phone agents.
And yes, even if preapproved, no credit card is given without a hard pull - all the pre-approvals are based on an initial soft pull
