Another question.

I've hit all the maximums on the silver card for the 2017 calendar year. Since the counter resets for 2018, when does it reset? If I make a purchase late 2017 (now) it will not be seen until the 2018 statement. Do late 2017 purchases begin the counter for 2018 or do they go to waste in 2017 when I have received all the perks available?

i have a couple large purchases, just wondering whether to buy now or wait until after Jan 1.
