I had booked a 3-night (really only stayed 2 due to a very late flight) stay at this property last week.
Summary:
* Took the metro to Lancun Road and walked from there. Not a bad walk, but the sidewalk isn't the best with a rollerbag. There is some construction on the street just in front of the hotel. I'm guessing it was about 5-10 min walk.
* After I arrived (about noon I think), I went over to the front desk. I was upgraded to a suite, which as very nice. Check-in was good...there was a trainee, but at least 3 others who helped in the process.
* Room was 3503, which had an awesome view (I'll post some pictures). Had a very large entry area, powder room, living room, bedroom, and a huge bathroom.
* I ate in the lounge every morning for breakfast and one evening for what is supposed to be snacks, but made it into dinner. The lounge is located on the ground floor of the, "old," tower of the hotel. In the morning there was a view of the Asian garden. In the evening there wasn't a view. The spread for both was nothing short of amazing. Tons and tons of options. Plenty of staff who really wanted to help.
* I used the workout room every day. There were maybe 2-3 others in there. They do have a lap pool which looked like a nice 25m pool, had lanes painted on bottom, ropes, etc...but I didn't use it. There was also a spa area, which I didn't use either.
* Property was nicely decorated for the holiday season. HUGE tree in the lobby, as well as different garland spread around the floors that overlooked.
* One night I really wanted a massage. They don't have staff on-site, but I asked the concierge who recommended a place about a 5 min walk away. I booked what was probably, "the works," for 2 hours and it was amazing...although I had some huge marks on my back after (they have mostly healed by now)
* Without luggage, getting to/from the subway wasn't bad at all. There was also a bus stop practically right in front of the hotel that I used. And it was maybe a 10-15 min walk to the Science & Technology Museum.
Overall a very pleasant stay. Yea the property isn't brand new. It is a little kitschy. But I think that adds to the charm of it. And for the price, you really can't go wrong.
