Unfortunately splitting the fare counteracts the price advantage departing from DUB tends to have. J is pricing at USD8500 from DXB to SFO. That's unreasonable for me.

I did have DUB-DXB-SIN-DXB-HYD-DXB-DUB in J for less than 5k USD with >90 days advance. I ended up not actually taking that flight and pay the 400 cancellation fee.

Can't justify 8.5k for DXB-SFO alone (for the dates I need to go +/- a couple days).

Ex DXB fares are very expensive, that's why I suggested adding the leg to MCT or similar. Might work out ok, never know though. It is a roundabout way of going about things.
