Whether everyone wants to accept it or not, it is a fact that everyone who wants to go to a resort in the Maldives will either have to deal with Trans Maldiviian Airways or stay at a resort within speedboat range of Male. That isn't condescending; that's the simple truth of the matter. Every more distant luxury resort other than Cheval Blanc Randheli has to deal with TMA. And TMA will do what it wants when the operations get muddled because of bad weather or unusual circumstances.
Nearby Male is not the only region that isn't serviced by TMA. There are some properties that are out of the reach of TMA; one or two in the far north and particularly in the far south. They don't fly south of Dhaalu Atoll and you have to take a domestic flight then speedboat to any resort in that part of the country.
