I completed the electronic arrival card and my interview was on my departure. I was approved for e-gate and when I tried to use the e-gate, it required me to fill out an arrival card. According to staff, they said when I filled out the electronic arrival card it was not tied to my e-gate info, so I had to submit it again.
Note: Security at Taoyuan Airport was a minimum 40 minute wait. E-gate still requires you to go through the regular security lines. APEC Business Travel Card line had no wait at all since they utilize the diplomat or crew line. I used APEC Business Travel Card to breeze through the security and e-gate to breeze through immigration clearance as there was a line for the APEC.
So it sounds like I might not be able to use eGate upon my arrival in Taiwan the first time? I'll keep the appointment, and I'll report back to the group. Not that it's a matched comparison, but when Mrs. Majuki signed up for eGate with her current passport (ROC), they corralled her to the eGates when she tried to use the manual lanes with me the last time we were in Taiwan 3 years ago.
