I would have thought that only I would have received it, the only reason I could think that we both got it was because we were both booked in the same PNR. Has anyone else experienced that? I know they used to give it out semi-randomly, but I thought they cut back random give-aways once they started charging for membership.
My GF always got PreCheck when on my PNR with me (even long after the "random PreCheck" was ended), and never got it on her own (when not traveling with me). So there's likely a decent algorithm at the back to determine risk...
