Stayed at the Westin Costa Navarino last week. In summary:
+ Large, beautifully-landscaped, peaceful resort that has been cleverly designed
+ Easy access to a great beach
+ Generous and convenient provisions of beach towels
+ Even at high occupancy, there is little noise; the children’s areas and family pool are far enough from the main pool that only time you see or hear most other guests is at breakfast
+ Most revenue rates appear to include breakfast, and it’s a high-quality buffet spread in a nice space
+ Free parking, if space available
- Breakfast is very, very busy
- Housekeeping erratic; didn’t get any cleaning on the first two nights and they only seemed to want to clean the room at 8am or 4pm when we were in it. Water bottles were not replaced on two nights, even after request, so took from minibar.
- Platinum benefits complied with the T&Cs of SPG, nothing more. 2pm checkout refused due to high occupancy; no SPG offers in any of the restauants or bars; got a one-category upgrade to an Infinity Suite which look similar to the one above but with a smaller unheated pool and patio overlooked by neighboring rooms.
- Suite had open-plan bathroom/bedroom, not my preference
- Even by resort standards, some of the restaurants are grossly overpriced with service ranging from patchy to atrocious.
- Bewildering size, especially if you arrive at night; I spent most of the first night hopelessly lost.
- Front desk was cheery but slow, inefficient and not at all helpful; I had to argue to get the water taken off the bill and was refused a request for 500 Make A Green Choice points in lieu of two nights’ missed housekeeping.
- Nobody on checkout asked how the stay was.
Overall, I would be very happy to stay here again if the rate was right, but I would double down on buying drinks and snacks at a local store and on eating outside the resort for dinner. The resort isn't doing enough to earn my $$$ for these extras.
