I booked LAX-SYD with the 16 hour layover in XMN on the outbound. From what I understand Xiamen will provide a day hotel (others have received the perk). My return only has a 2 hour stop in XMN. For me it was a good deal to get to Australia in business. Yes, its longer, but worked for me.
