Xiamen: LAX-SYD, $2600 RT Late Oct - Aug 2018

I don't know if this qualifies as a MR, but it's a pretty good premium fare to Australia and only one stop on most of the options. Very consistent availability late October 2017 - August 2018.

Books into I (130% to FB, 100% to DL) and C (150% to FB, 125% to DL) from what I see.

Bookable through Orbitz.

Good price, but only counts for 75% medallion qualification?

With the exception of MU, all of DL's Asian partners are in the reduced earnings categories.

Bought my parents this for Xmas. I'm crediting both of theirs to Air France. Should get about 29,990 miles per person.

I am traveling on this route as well over Christmas. Direct flight from LAX to SYD on United for around the same price.

Perhaps he bought 140K miles with the 100% bonus and by some miracle managed to score a return biz saver award around Christmas?

That's a bit random. I took it as a possible match fare to the fare in question.........not a me too.

The biggest downside of the XMN connection is that on the outbound, it's a 15-16 hour layover during the day. So not sure if you can get a hotel from 7am till 10pm.

The one I booked had a long day time layover on the way there. On the return it was only 3.5 hours. However, there was another return option with a 29 hour layover.

I booked LAX-SYD with the 16 hour layover in XMN on the outbound. From what I understand Xiamen will provide a day hotel (others have received the perk). My return only has a 2 hour stop in XMN. For me it was a good deal to get to Australia in business. Yes, its longer, but worked for me.

Thanks for pointing that out! This awesome for my parents. They would want to be cheap and not pay for a hotel and just wait at the airport. There's no way they would've even bought the J tickets if I didn't get it for them.
