That's a pretty good description of the situation and like you say is not new at all. It will not change until the new expansion is complete and they move the customs to the new part of the airport.

I would love to go back to the old days prior to the terminal, where you drove up to the quonset "hut", parked your car, walked to the ticket counter and got on the plane. Obviously, it's not going to happen.
