AKL-RAR and RAR-AKL flights are International, and you can transit in AKL without needing to immigration provided that your traveling on an single ticket for BKK-SYD-AKL-RAR.
Bare in mind the transit point in AKL will close at around 2359 and re-open around 0430 depending on the first flight of the morning. If arrive between that time without an Visa you'll be stuck waiting in an corridor.
