If I finish a book during a trip, I usually leave it in a nightstand drawer in my hotel room. That way housekeeping probably won't toss it, and another traveler may find some new reading material. Seriously, I've found some pretty tame stuff (Playboy, Penthouse, etc) and more than once I've found stuff I couldn't even possibly begin to describe. I just think of it as a learning experience.
