I do this on almost every single flight I take. In fact, if I can't find a cheaper GAP fare, I just use miles to make up the difference in price if it's more than $100. I have a pre-typed message saved in my Twitter acct. where I just enter the flight numbers I want and hit send right at the 24hr mark and am usually confirmed within minutes -- no phone call even needed!
