Severe problems with Google's new "Backup & Sync" program
I appreciate much of the Google landscape, but why oh why do they fix things that aren't broken? (the old Google maps was far and away a better product, e.g.).
Google Sync worked just. But Google replaced it on my computer (without asking) with the new "Backup and Sync."
It's been a disaster. After my laptop sleeps, there is this big gray square on screen which I can eventually dismiss. But far far worse is the fact that after a sync, the computer simply freezes after disabling my internet connection. Happened four times; no other candidates for this behavior are possible (no new programs).
So, I un-installed the program -- and it completely hosed my Google Drive. I now have no documents in it at all, and only the complimentary 15GB of storage (although I've yearly paid for 36GB of storage). I've tweeted Google but not sure I expect an answer.
Anyone have any wisdom or know where this is being discussed in more depth?
