I just booked through the AA website. Didn't use multi city. If you are going to the west coast you need to make sure that the connecting flight is one that gives you the 140 tp (over 2,000 miles I think) otherwise you will only get 40 even on the longer flights. I would like to do HNL a routing such as DUB-PHL-LAX-HNL and return would give 840 plus 80 for the connection to DUB in Club Europe
Also, its worth checking the Finnair offers. I did LHR-HEL-BKK last year for about £1200. Unfortunately I lost 80 TP on the return as they rebooked me onto BA due to a delay. Otherwise it gives 460 and you can get to fly the A350 and use the sauna in HEL if you leave enough connection time
