As you seem to know there is a main TP run thread available via the Dashboard, and that's the best source of specific and general information in this area, along with perhaps the Premium Fares thread.
What you may want to do is come along to one of the Do's, the next one is not far off in Leeds. Quite a lof of FTers have developed very meaningful friendships in real life with other people from Flyertalk, self included, and attending a Do is a good way to kick that off. A number of FTers co-ordinate some of their travel with other FTers as a result.
