As for the OP, I guess CX should be able to provide you some form of written confirmation that they did the transfer. That would tell you right away where the money is, on CX side or on your cc company side. But in general CX is quite refunding. I had to refund a ticket in august. refund was posted on my cc few days later
This is the part I'm most confused with. I've called Cathay many times asking for anything written to prove they have refunded the money, so I can ask AMEX to confirm. Cathay refused (my many requests) and basically declaring their words of the refund being processed on August 23rd is proof enough.
