I've been flying for over 30 years and I've yet to see the Y seat I would pick before a J seat. YMMV, of course.

+1. I would still get value out of a J cabin if there were literally no onboard service at all (and prefer it to current Y). The main reason I pay for a premium cabin is so that I can avoid being pinned to a wall and/or to be able to lie down if I need a night of sleep on the flight. The "luxury experience" is nice but it's not integral to why I buy J.
