Ha, mate you clearly aren't stuck on the lovely US flights. The most common departure area is still gates 3-4, which are roped off for the secondary screening. Seating is all full in there. The choice is sprawl out on the floor or stand in line. Last time that comes to mind was earlier this year to SFO on one of the 77G departures. Thought I went to the gate "late", only to find out we had a rolling boarding delay.
Surely this is when The Wing really comes into its own? You can just remain comfortably sipping your beverage of choice overlooking the gate mayhem and then pick your time to leave the lounge accordingly?
