I sampled most of the menu of Leon when it was on Amex Offers (I think we had 12 cards so used all of them). The amounts spent post-rebate was similar to what I might spend elsewhere without a rebate. Also, the portions were rather small.
That is to say, yes, I did like their food and agree it was better than elsewhere, but it costs more and doesn't fill you up as much.

+1, it's not just pret but basically 95% of supermarket/chain sandwiches.
Surprisingly I find that hospital volunteer-run shops often have edible sandwiches. To give an example near to central London, the shop in St Mary's Hospital outpatients does proper sandwiches using butter and they cost about half of what you'd pay elsewhere.

When we're touring about the UK in a car we just buy all that we need from a supermarket and make our own sandwiches every day. Just carry a plastic plate a sharp knife and some cutlery. Tea bags, sugar, coffee even instant soup come in handy as we also take a flask and fill it up with hot water before leaving our accommodation in the morning.
It's easy with a car. I also have freezer bags / freezer box with ice packs that can keep things cold.
