In reality if there are extenuating circumstances (e.g. family) this is where the ground staff will advise the controller as to what is appropriate from a customer service POV.
Have a flight to the US coming up. All booked in J, and Y is showing zeros already, so that bodes well for an op up.... except for the dreaded (for op ups at least) child on my wife's PNR...
