UA has canned some popular routes, and so far NRT-BKK didn't come back despite much protest on FT. Don't know if or how many FTers wrote to UA though.
And then there are the routes that were announce with much fanfare, and then canceled before first flight ever took off
IAH-AKL comes to mind ....
