I find this to be the case on many of UA's TPAC flights though. You'd think with all the flights to China, TPE, HKG and NRT they'd have a subset of FA's that can speak Chinese or Japanese fluently. I mean hell, in my intra-Asia flights on Air Asia, ANA and Cathay, they could speak three languages - The home language, destination language and English!
Hell, on my ANA flight, we even got a printed menu to look at.
