Getting Round SIA PPS Club by using another program

Hi Everyone,

As you may know SIA have two seperate programs, Krisflyer and PPS - once you reach Gold on Krisflyer (same as Star Al Gold) you can't go any further (e.g Platinum on most other programs) unless you buy business or first tickerts (PPS Club).

I am about to get the gold class (and you can also get this every year by sepnding on a credit card in any case), but I'm a bit peeved my repeat custom will not be rewarded from here.

So... I was thinking - once I get the gold status I could join another program (probably should have thought on this before and I'd already be a long way towards it) and begin to escalate in their tier system:

- I will still book on Singapore Airlines as its the most conveient and offers the best routes out of SG
- I just accrue those miles to the new program
- Once I hit gold I will get all the SG benefits anyway as its star alliance so I can let that go or keep it by spending on the card
- I'll still be able to redeem the points on SG flights as its Star Alliance.

The potential downsides I can see are:
- Some SG flights might not fully accrue to the other airlines but most are 3-4 hours plus and are not the cheapest fare class
- It may be harder to redeem points on SG flights from another program.

But at least I'll be able to enjoy platinum benefits somwhere..

Any thoughts much appreciated.
