AFAIK AM doesn't have SDS. Only SDC. Regardless, AM doesn't allow SDC for the cheap tickets. Only more expensive tickets. Qualifying fares less then full flexible can be done only at airport. Full flexible fares can be done via call center. The cheapest Y fares don't even allow for changes. However as you have a DL ticket, I believe all SDC can only be done at the airport. Note, DL cant do anything in this regard, only AM. Thus since your first two flights are on DL, you won't be able to get placed confirmed until you reach the point you connect onto AM metal.

Finally, note that standby, doesn't just mean voluntary change standby (SDS type). Instead for most airlines, it means when IRROPS happen. If theres no space you get placed on standby, with priority over those without status.
