It depends on what you mean by "paid the up-charge".
If you are an MVP or Gold and purchased a higher fare to allow an immediate upgrade into PC, then yes, your companion comes with you.
If not, and you're just paying for the premium seat selection, then no. Each seat is paid separately, and not included in the companion fare cost.
