I always unload my own bags. I manage to successfully get them from my home to the bus and from the bus to the check-in counter so I certainly don't need help with that tiny portion of the journey.

If a driver prevents me from doing so then I'm not paying for it. I don't begrudge a smile and a "thank you" however.
