That sounds like a mess for DL passengers in that you must take the little train from the MTA station in T1/2/3 to T5. Moreover, most hotel shuttles don't serve T5 or do it only on special request, so again many passengers would need to use the little train, which is inconvenient (especially if you have lots of luggage, etc.) and takes additional time.
I'm sure it's perfectly possible that when / if there be a major reconfig of which airlines use which terminals that the hotels would be willing to look again at their shuttle bus routes.
