DL at ORD terminal change?

Hi all,

I read the thread about Delta at ORD terminal changes. Is Delta will moved back to T3? Is that true? UA will takeover all T2. They used at entire concourse L over decades ago and now, they moved back to T3 concourse K gate. When it did happens? Is that rumors or something like that?

Any suggestions? Any speculations?

At this point there are no firm plans for anything but here is what is proposed:

1. New T2 has been proposed. This would mean that the existing T2 would be demolished. DL would need to be relocated.

2. "Rumor" has it that DL's relocation would be to T5. Not sure if this would be temporary or permanent

3. When the new T2 opens it would be occupied by UA and AA. Would have its own customs and immigration station so no need for them to use T5 any more

Airlines have not agreed to this but the city is pushing hard.

That sounds like a mess for DL passengers in that you must take the little train from the MTA station in T1/2/3 to T5. Moreover, most hotel shuttles don't serve T5 or do it only on special request, so again many passengers would need to use the little train, which is inconvenient (especially if you have lots of luggage, etc.) and takes additional time.

Before they bought NW, DL used the odd numbered L gates inT3 and had a CRC next to L1.

Delta currently uses eight games at ORD T2 - the odd numbered gates from E7 to E17, plus E14 and E16. They also have a SkyClub there (the old TWA club).

So DL can't really fit back at T3 unless they threw all the LCCs over to T5 and AA gave them L2 and L4. And even then, there's no club left for them.

Hopefully DL will upgauge their MDW flights and schedule during ORD construction.

If this is the case, I can certainly see using MDW more, and <unfortunately> skipping the SkyClub.

Yes, you'd have to take the airport tram to T5 if you're arriving on CTA. But really, how is this any different than, say, taking the tram to Terminal D post-security at ATL? Not something DL flyers at ORD have to do today, but hardly a massive inconvenience in the grand scheme of air travel.

With such a large scale terminal change, the shuttle service would certainly change also.

Is DL SC = PMNW WorldClub (RIP) = TWA Ambassador Club (RIP) at ORD?

Ugh. If this is true, it just keeps getting worse for DL. The L concourse was decent and then they got moved into the T2 which is old and depressing. Moving into T5 would be even worse since you need to take the airport train back to the main terminals and then take the L back into the city. Yuck.

I believe this misinformation may be based on construction of the L concourse extension behind the heat and power station. That extension is being built for AA and DL is not moving back.

I like the current location, it's very convenient for CTA access and if I have an early morning flight I just book at the ORD Hilton and it only takes a couple minutes to go from the hotel to security.

If they do move I hope Clear puts in a lane at ORD

Yep, at E7.

I can't see them moving to T5 in its current form. Maybe if the Western Access comes to fruition, but I'll probably be dead by then.

I'm sure it's perfectly possible that when / if there be a major reconfig of which airlines use which terminals that the hotels would be willing to look again at their shuttle bus routes.
