Just booked an award flight for my wife for next week. (I'm elite, she's not) I was hit with the $75, but it was not disclosed anywhere on the booking page. I only saw it when I got the e-mail receipt. Pretty shady if you ask me. I just tried a dummy booking and got the same thing.
I ultimately got it removed, but it took a long phone call.
When this happens I call before ticketing and they do it over the phone for free, have noticed that it charges correctly if I do not put the ticket on hold.
Also cannot put in recipients ff number until after it tickets or it takes miles from their account. (Despite the disclaimer that all miles are taken from the person logged in).
