I have packable straw hat and also sun sombreros from outdoor research and ex officio, and rain hats. I'm hoping I won't need the rain hats at the end of June (though we walked the Brooklyn bridge July 2015 and got caught in a huge thunderstorm!)
I'm thinking the straw hat might be more "city" acceptable?
