Weren't you able to enjoy the new club experience (a.o. free breakfast) at the Amstel?
I believe Club Experience is only offered foc to RAs on paid stays.
IC Amstel will honour upgrades/minibar on award nights just like on paid stays, and even a temp room if available if checking in early, though again not guaranteed on an award night checkin, understandable coz hotel often sold out so no rooms free at 8am for RAs wanting 8am room.
