does the phone have an actual corded base? Does that one cause the echo? Can you try a phone with a cord to the ooma base unit to see if the echo is still there.

As I mentioned you can move the phone base to anywhere that there is a jack, by connecting the ooma (wherever it gets put) to a nearby jack, enabling the jack network. I wouldn't put phones everywhere on all jacks, just confirm that the one line between the ooma and the phone base station jack is strong and then of course use the cordless handset to connect to the phone base station and you should be good.
It has a corded base, but every handset it cordless. I don't have a corded phone, but could try to find one.
