I'm not an expert but I've not heard of GE refusal affecting future travel
It is possible you will get denied based on some posts in the other thread, but everything I've read suggests that absent other problems with your travel - assuming you are an American citizen - I don't believe that even a denial of G E will have any effect on your future experience. The worst that will happen is you will waste the money that you spend applying.
