Which is exactly the problem. FAs (and airline employees in general) are not accountable for lying, which includes making stuff up that sounds good but is patently false. Quoting non-existent FAA rules is inexcusable. FAs are paid to KNOW FAA rules, at least those rule pertaining to onboard safety. FAs may not know the infant *ticketing* rules but they certainly should know the FAA infant *seating* rules as those pertain directly to their duties and safety on board.
