Many thanks, ACYYZ/SD. A travel writer/photographer would really be a dream job! I had cravings for decent Mexican food after I returned to Dubai too, still searching for a place that sells pulque here though.

Thanks, cargasm66. I booked the tours here. I used a 10% discount code for the first link (THANKSS), not sure if it still works though.

Thank you, FlyForFun. I’m really glad I took the effort to go a few days early and see some of Mexico City rather than just do daytrip to Tijuana.

Thank you, miuk. Thankfully luck and a bit of wits was on my side that day, was so close to losing it!

Looking forward to the next part.
Many thanks, 757. Yes, definitely recommend stopping by Mexico City. I think the flights are pretty regular and reasonably cheap from the US, so could probably do a long weekend visit very easily.

Thank you,JY1024. It was my first time being pickpocketed so was totally caught off guard. ‘Once bitten, twice shy’ and now I am a lot more vigilant.

The only funny story is that I was searched in secondary inspection entering Mexico once (I was entering from Honduras) because my Honduran coffee was wrapped in duct tape and plastic in the form of bricks. That caused a lot of questions. Haha
Thank you, HALA330. I visited NYC soon after and can definitely see the comparison. Very reasonable prices with the low peso at the moment too, would love to head back. Taking in a plastic-wrapped brick of coffee must have definitely caught their eye!

I went to Mexico last summer and went to many of the same places you did (Teotihuacan, Casa Azul, Arena Mexico, et al) but did it solo rather than any tours. It's nice to see a report of somewhat familiar places.
Thanks, boyerling3. Yes, quite a variety of things to do in Mexico City. From ancient pyramids at Teotihuacan to the muscle and spectacle at Arena Mexico! Only wished I could have stayed another day or so to see some of the things I missed.

I just wanted to point out that turkeys are not called Turquia in Spanish. Turquia is Turkey, the country. Turkeys, the animals, are called pavos.
Cheers, 18hours. Oops, looks like I got the wrong turkey. Will have to fix that.

Thanks, offerendum, a very enjoyable break and my colleagues were a little jealous after I met up with them in San Diego for the conference.
