I always thought those were kind of redundant on the 757 because of the knuckle-knocker and since the door will disarm if opened from outside. With that said, the 757 is not immune to accidental slide deployment, so anything to prevent that makes sense, especially something as cheap as the orange strap. Will the sUA PA script be updated to ask flight attendants to "verify straps" before all-call?

Now that NGS is coming, I suspect the scimitar winglet caps on the 757-222s won't be far behind.
