I took the shuttle from T7 to T2 and it took awhile to arrive, but there was not much traffic between terminals (but it was just before 7 am) so I don't think I would have saved too much time walking. Our flight from OGG was about 40 minutes early so got some lounge time.
Be really, really cautious with the shuttle and play it by ear depending on how traffic looks.
Some mornings before 7am it can be fine...other mornings like all hell broke loose.
There's a reason LAX traffic is one of the circles of hell (the other being the 405).
