Was it the delays, I've experienced far longer delays?
Was it the drama and emotional stress?
Or just hoping for some good will and witness favoritism for what is sure big lawsuit for UA.
Some guesses:
1. Damage control.
2. Attempt at ginning up some PR in a week whereby they keep shooting themselves in the foot.
3. Seeking to stave off lawsuits from other pax on board that flight for emotional distress, etc. by agreeing not to sue.
4. Perhaps seeking to prevent future "in person" pax reports from those aboard that flight to media?
I certainly doubt they are offering "refunds" out of a kind gesture.
