EDIT ok I think I see what you are saying -- before, you could write in a post "hey look at (#)(3) above" -- without the parentheses of course -- and it would just show a # and a 3 and no link.

Now, when you do the same thing, the hashtag/number combination is a link to all the hashtags (deliberate or not) of "3" on FT.

So, where you used to get no link, now you have a link.

Yes?

You can still link to the actual post, easily, if you want to.

To link to your post above this one, I right-click the post number (3 in this case) and select "copy link address".

Then I type what I want -- for instance...

Thanks for your info in post 3 above

Then i highlight the text I want to be the link

Then I hit the LINK icon in the post reply window

Paste in the copied link to you post and click OK

And voila...

Thanks for your info in post 3 above

Thanks for you info in post 3 above
I'm quite aware of how to do your solution. It's one of the first things I learned how to do on FT 15 years ago.

What's a problem now (since IB implemented hashtags) is that before you could say the information is in post # (fill in the blank) & someone would know to look at that post. Or, if they saw it was a live link (because someone had clicked on copy link address), they would click on it & it would take them to the appropriate post.

Now, however, post # (fill in the blank) it's become a live link that takes them to bunch of garbage hashtags that have nothing to do w/ what the post was referencing.

This is not of benefit to FT itself or FTers; it's a downgrade re: usability.

Cheers.
