Compensation and rebooking options go hand in hand. Don't accept $200 and then find out they can't get you there for three days. Don't demand $1000 when the rerouting gets you in 37 minutes later. First question should be when and how they can get you there... once you know that, then immediately ask what the compensation would be, or say "I'd be willing to do that for $xxx."
