Ah well, DO NOT drive to popular local tourist spots during public holidays in Indonesia . But usually the toll road goes pretty smooth, maybe I'm just really lucky then . Anyway I think both options are nice, but if you are not living or going to Indonesia a lot, trains in Java give you very nice views indeed!
