Very nice Plat recognition HEL-LPA and LPA-HEL. It's sort of funny how they try to do it almost secretly so the Plat doesn't have to feel embarrassed for getting something that others don't get. Very Finnish.

HEL-LPA newspaper offered during the regular round. Not a single word uttered between the "Ilta-Sanomat €3" sales pitches, just a knowing smile from both sides. I can only imagine how strange it must feel for a foreigner, but worked well for me. FA was about to charge for the drink, but a friendly "I've got the Platinum card" was all I needed to say.

LPA-HEL, I went to the lav soon after the seatbelt was turned off after take-off. When I came out of the lav, I was offered my paper behind the curtain with a smile and a "If I'll give this to you here..." where you could almost hear the ellipsis and the unmentioned "so that the others won't get envious". They also went out of their way to get me my drink of choice (the two nearest trolleys didn't have it) and later, when I once again came out of the lav (this makes me sound like an old man who needs to go to the john every 10 minutes, but hey, it's a six-hour flight! ) the FA asked if I'd like any beverage. When deplaning, she said "näkemiin" to the rest and "I'm sure we'll meet again soon" to me. Very nice gesture that made me feel special and cost nobody anything. ^

Btw, is the drink benefit officially one drink free of charge, or any amount of drinks?
